Position : Transport Broker - KZN, Gauteng, Western Cape

We are seeking an experienced Transport Broker to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating freight movements, building strong relationships with transporters/carriers and clients, and ensuring seamless logistics operations. The ideal candidate is someone who has done transport brokerage before in the transport and logistics industry not in any other industry.
Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate competitive rates with transporters/carriers and secure transportation capacity for client shipments
  • Build and maintain a robust network of reliable carriers, including owner-operators and transport companies
  • Match available freight with appropriate carriers based on requirements, routes, and equipment specifications
  • Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules to ensure timely and efficient freight movement
  • Track shipments and provide real-time updates to clients regarding freight status
  • Resolve transportation issues, delays, or service failures promptly and professionally
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, rates, and carrier performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies
  • Develop new business opportunities and maintain strong relationships with existing clients
  • Monitor market trends, capacity availability, and rate fluctuations

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Transport Broker or in a similar role within a freight/logistics company
  • Strong knowledge of transport brokerage operations and freight management principles
  • Understanding of transportation regulations, compliance requirements, and industry standards
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable rates and terms
  • Strong relationship-building capabilities with carriers, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Proficiency in logistics management software and transportation management systems (TMS)
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with international freight coordination
  • Knowledge of customs procedures and cross-border transportation
  • Familiarity with various freight modes (road, rail, air, sea)
  • Established carrier network and industry contacts
