Supply Chain Management Officer (Maize Procurement) - Songea and Kahama

We are seeking a qualified and motivated Supply Chain Management Officer to join our team and oversee the procurement of maize from local farmers and markets. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the local agricultural supply chain by ensuring a consistent and quality supply of maize. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of local maize markets, as well as the ability to manage procurement processes effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management:

• Develop and implement strategies to source maize directly from local farmers and markets in the Kahama and Songea regions.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with farmers, suppliers, and market representatives to ensure favorable procurement outcomes.
• Ensure the procurement of maize aligns with company standards for quality, cost, and timeliness.

Supplier Relationship Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local farmers, suppliers, and market vendors.
• Organize regular meetings and communications to understand their needs and build trust.
• Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to ensure compliance with contracts and quality requirements.

Supply Chain Coordination:

• Oversee the logistics of transporting maize from farmers to the company's storage facilities or processing plants.
• Ensure efficient inventory management and stock rotation of procured maize.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., logistics, finance, production) to streamline the supply chain process.

Market Research & Analysis:

• Monitor market trends and the local maize supply and demand dynamics.
• Analyze price fluctuations and market conditions to make informed procurement decisions.
• Prepare periodic reports on maize procurement activities, supplier performance, and market conditions.

Compliance and Documentation:

• Ensure all procurement activities comply with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records, contracts, and inventory reports.

Cost Control:

• Develop and monitor budget forecasts for maize procurement and supply chain activities.
• Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs while maintaining the required quality and quantity of maize.
