ABOUT THE ROLEWe are looking for people who are passionate about environmental conservation in Africa and capacity development to join the ALU School of Wildlife Conservation’s team. This role involves delivering value to the School of Wildlife Conservation in the form of optimizing and executing communication and marketing campaigns to our various stakeholder. The role will also be involved in supporting the effective running of different operational needs of the School. We are looking for an individual who can multitask and enjoys working across multiple teams.  
RESPONSIBILITIESThis is both a strategic and operational role that requires an understanding of  systems processes, marketing strategy, graphic design and multimedia, social media, research and analytics while harnessing the power of collaboration and interpersonal relationships. to work within and across teams Your responsibilities will include:

  • You will be the marketing focal point for the School and will lead the implementation of our marketing plan. 
  • Protecting and promoting SOWC’s public image and brand through writing and copywriting, to ensure all digital channels (including website, blog, emails) are brand-consistent and on message.  
  • You will establish monthly marketing priorities and will generate innovative digital content that drives the SOWC narrative and brings the SOWC student and alumni experience to life, inspired by students, alumni, faculty and staff. 
  • Developing brand-aligned communication strategies, internal and external-facing collaterals that support our strategic objectives by working closely with the ALU marketing team.
  • You will be the graphic designer of the School and will create graphic assets including but not limited to flyers, motion graphics, videos etc. You will also design the branding and collateral materials for events
  • You will manage and lead the update of the SOWC website, ensuring up to date, accurate and compelling content which supports SOWC's social media presence. You will also manage and document student stories. You will understand SEO and implement recommendations for Wordpress site.
  • Ensuring research and analytics tools and dashboards are in place and operational to enable tracking of key marketing metrics relating to brand, user experience and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Evaluating our campaign performance and make data-driven recommendations for how to adjust our approach to reach our ambitious goals.
  • Managing SOWC's Social Media channels to increase followers and engagement.
  • Lead student and participant recruitment efforts by collaborating with the recruitment teams (MBA, PDC) on the recruitment campaign strategy, help identify digital marketing channel mix and ultimately manage our digital marketing / online advertising by designing, creating, managing, monitoring, reporting and analysing digital campaigns, capturing learning, optimising for efficiency,  and staying on budget.
  • Recruit and manage social media and marketing interns.
  • Support the planning and hosting of the School’s events such as the Business of Conservation Conference.
  • Support in the execution of key projects as and when required. These projects may include but not limited to supporting the annual internship fund program cycle, alumni engagement among others.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with different teams
  • Stellar copy writing and editing skills. Blog writing experience preferred.
  • Competency in content ideation and creation.
  • Excellent graphic design and video editing skills with the ability to use platforms such as Canva, PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator among others.
  • Sound knowledge/ experience of social media marketing and digital marketing (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). Experience with digital marketing reporting and analysis is preferred. 
  • Experience with website design and management and use of Elementor
  • Efficient usage/optimisation of online content and email marketing platforms (Mailchimp) and analysis tools (Google Suite, Excel).
  • Experience working in wildlife conservation or interest in conservation a strong plus
  • Ability to handle budget management and pay per click advertising
  • Significant first experience in project management
  • Strong organisational skills, self motivation and familiarity with project management.
  • Excellent team spirit and interpersonal relations.
  • Continuous learning mindset.
