Position : Software Engineer - Nyanza

We are looking out for a Software Engineer on behalf of an our client company, an international organisation whoes core business is in the in the e-commerce platform. The role is designed for candidates with strong technical expertise in software development, problem-solving, and systems integration, and it emphasises working in a global, impact-driven environment.

  • Unique features of the position:

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical documentation and support for deployed solutions.
  • Intermediate level experience with developing in either VB6, C# or VB.Net
  • Maintain and improve existing systems to ensure reliability and scalability.
  • Requires patience for after hour support & in-depth understanding of solution and source code for debugging purposes
  •  Onsite implementation/Bug Fixing and further customization of solution
  • Good customer facing skills & self-management
  • SQL language and relational database design knowledge. Must have at least 2 years experience with MS-SQL Server 2005 or above
  • Collaborate with international teams on system architecture and integration.
  • Contribute to digital transformation initiatives within the organization.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Professional certifications in web development, cloud computing, or cybersecurity (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Technical Skills

  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Java, Python, PHP, JavaScript (Node.js, React, Angular, Vue).
  • E-commerce Platforms: Experience with Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or custom-built platforms.
  • Database Management: Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP; CI/CD pipelines; Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Payment Integration: Expertise in integrating secure payment gateways (PayPal, Stripe, mobile money).
  • Security: Knowledge of data encryption, fraud detection, and compliance with PCI-DSS standards.

Professional Experience

  • 3–7 years of experience in software development, preferably in e-commerce or fintech.
  • Proven track record of building scalable, high-performance web applications.
  • Experience in developing APIs and microservices for online platforms.
  • Background in optimizing user experience (UX) and site performance for high-traffic platforms.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams.
