Position : Project Manager - Kigali

We are looking for a Project Manager.
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The role involves coordinating teams, managing resources, mitigating risks, and communicating with stakeholders to achieve project objectives aligned with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria
  • Coordinate project activities and ensure timely execution
  • Manage project changes, risks, and issues

Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams
  • Assign tasks and monitor performance of team members
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders and manage expectations
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide regular status updates

Budget & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage project budgets and expenditures
  • Ensure efficient utilization of project resources
  • Monitor costs and ensure financial accountability

Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation

  • Track project progress against plans and milestones
  • Prepare project reports for management, donors, or clients
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards
  • Conduct project reviews and lessons-learned sessions

Risk & Compliance Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and legal regulations
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met (where applicable)

Qualifications & Experience (Enhanced)
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, Development Studies, or a closely related field (mandatory)
  • Master’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration (MBA), Engineering, or related discipline is a strong advantage

Professional Certifications (Highly Preferred / Required)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) – PMI
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner
  • Agile / Scrum Certification (CSM, SAFe, or equivalent) 
  • Certification in Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) for NGO/development projects is an added advantage

Experience

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in project management
  • At least 3–5 years managing complex, multi-stakeholder or high-value projects
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, procurement, budgeting, and contract management

Technical & Management Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile)
  • Advanced skills in project planning, scheduling, cost control, and performance monitoring
  • Ability to develop and manage logical frameworks, work plans, and KPIs
  • Strong understanding of financial management and reporting
  • Experience using advanced project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Jira, or similar)

Leadership & Strategic Skills

  • Proven leadership and people-management skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to align projects with organizational strategy and donor/client expectations
