Position : Program Officer - Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance - Nakuru Town

We are looking for Program Officer - Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance.
Responsibilities:

  • Support to prepare detailed project proposals, budgets, and plans for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and humanitarian programs.
  • Conduct rapid needs assessments during disasters to inform timely response actions.
  • Support the implementation of the DRR program.
  • Support the implementation of emergency response activities during disasters.
  • Monitor and evaluate program activities, ensuring alignment with project goals
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with stakeholders, including local government, community leaders, and partners.
  • Assist in capacity building for community disaster preparedness and resilience.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by Good People International Nakuru Field Office.

Working Conditions:

  • Location: Based in Nakuru Field Office
  • Working Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (subject to change depending on circumstances)
  • Contract Duration: Until the end of 2025, with possible extension based on performance and project funding availability

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in disaster risk reduction, humanitarian assistance, or community development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports, budgets, and plans.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Valid automobile driving license (advantage).
