Position : Prequalification of Field Monitors - Darfur State and Kordofan State
TAAM Consultants is currently recruiting field monitors to perform essential tasks related to assessments, monitoring, and data collection for our clients' projects in Darfur state (North, West, Central, South, East Darfur) and Kordofan state (West, South, North). The availability of this position is contingent upon TAAM Consultants securing funding, and the expected start date, if funded, is June 2025. Once awarded, field monitors will be responsible for conducting various data collection activities.

General Functions
The purpose of this role is to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the intended recipients in the correct quantities and quality. Working from a TAAM-identified area office, the post will involve extensive fieldwork in districts throughout the states and may involve overnight stays in some locations.
Main responsibilities
- Undertake regular situation monitoring in specific areas based on specific requests to assess the overall situation and any unmet needs, particularly of women and children.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor project/program implementation according to the Work Plan.
- Collect high-quality data using the open data kit and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Identify potential respondents through telephone surveys and gauge their interest in participating in a study.
- Conduct household surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), and key informant interviews (KIIs).
- Comply with quality and monitoring ethics requirements, ensuring data protection and confidentiality.
- Participate in daily debrief sessions with the lead, presenting findings and providing input.
- Contribute to field visit planning by considering cluster-specific research considerations and providing local environment knowledge.
- Conduct desk-based reviews prior to field visits.
- Execute project monitoring visits, including data collection, interviews, and engagement with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Team Leader in writing project monitoring reports after field visits.
- Conduct cluster-specific verification and quality assessments during field visits.
- Monitor the overall performance of project/program implementation and report any deviations from implementation plans.
- Coordinate if required with implementing partners.
Education
- Should have a university degree in social sciences, research methods, science, business administration or related field;
Essential Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in implementing or reviewing and monitoring projects, in research or in data collection in a humanitarian context. Examples of humanitarian contexts include nutrition, protection, education, health, food security, shelter etc.;
- The monitor should have a previous experience in the Sudan humanitarian context;
- Must be team-orientated, with good interpersonal skills and have an ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally;
- Demonstrate ability to plan, organize, prioritize, follow-through and evaluate assigned functions and duties;
- Impeccable and proven reliability, with an ability to remain focused under pressure with a commitment to hard work over protracted hours;
- Must have a thorough knowledge of Microsoft systems such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A working knowledge of MS Project, ODK and Outlook will be an advantage;
- Dynamic and creative, using innovative approaches to overcome locally generated challenges;
- Skill in independently adapting, interpreting, and applying written and verbal guidelines.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the state;
- Ability to start work immediately at short notice.
Working Conditions
Working conditions include both office and field work. Work may require weekend and evening work. Work may require overnight travel.
Languages
The field monitor should have working proficiency in English and Arabic.
