Position : Packaging Supervisor - Addis Ababa

We are looking for a Packaging Supervisor.
Job Purpose
The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily packaging operations at Simien Pure Foods, ensuring that finished products are packed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company quality standards, EFDA regulations, and food safety requirements. The role ensures optimal use of packaging materials, manpower, and equipment while maintaining high standards of hygiene and productivity.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Packaging Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate daily packaging activities according to production plans
  • Ensure correct packaging materials, labeling, coding, and sealing of products
  • Monitor packaging line performance and address operational issues promptly
  • Ensure packaging output meets quality, quantity, and timeline targets

Quality & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP standards
  • Verify that packaging meets Simien Pure Foods quality specifications and labeling requirements
  • Conduct routine checks to prevent contamination, damage, or mislabeling
  • Support internal and external audits (EFDA, ISO, customer audits)

Team Supervision

  • Supervise, train, and motivate packaging operators and helpers
  • Assign duties, manage shift schedules, and monitor attendance
  • Enforce workplace discipline and safety procedures

Equipment & Materials

  • Ensure proper use and basic maintenance of packaging machines
  • Report equipment malfunctions to Maintenance team
  • Monitor usage of packaging materials and minimize wastage

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Enforce workplace safety rules and proper use of PPE
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the packaging area
  • Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions

Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare daily and weekly packaging reports
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Warehouse, and Maintenance teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Qualifications & Requirements
Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Food Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years experience in food or beverage packaging operations
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory role preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of food packaging processes and materials
  • Understanding of EFDA regulations, GMP, and HACCP
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to work shifts and under pressure
