Position : Onsetter - Thabazimbi, Brits

We are looking for an Onsetter.
Introduction

  • The incumbent will oversee shaft bank/station operations, transmit and exchange the correct signal to the Winding Engine Driver, move and place materials and explosives into conveyance, loading equipment, be in control of loading people.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct general administrative tasks.
  • Participate in all applicable company communication activities.
  • Control and store assets according to standard procedures.
  • Use assets according to instructions.
  • Assist in meeting the expectations of internal customers.
  • Report and assist with non-compliance issues.
  • Assess and manage health and safety hazards and associated risks.
  • Assist with daily visual inspection on conveyance.
  • Continuously monitor equipment failure and efficiency and report to Shaft Foreman.
  • Ensure efficient housekeeping of equipment (skip, conveyance, and all station levels underground) according to departmental requirements and departmental procedures.
  • Conduct a risk assessment for any task to be performed.
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment (skip, conveyance) according to departmental procedure.
  • To minimize breakdowns and production losses by reporting abnormalities according to procedure.
  • Perform weekly bell testing with electricians.
  • Provide the relevant signals to driver.
  • Conducting station inspection.
  • Control the amount of people loaded into the conveyance.
  • Slinging activities to underground.
  • Station cleaning and control of material cars.
  • Transport men, material, equipment and explosives.
  • Must be able to work shifts and overtime.
  • Required to perform other duties that may reasonably be expected within the Company from time to time.
  • Ensure compliance to Statutory legislative requirements and Mine Policies, Procedures, Systems and Codes of Practice.
  • Conducting of shaft examinations and repairs.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12
  • Certificate: Banksman/Onsetter
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Production Shaft sinking experience
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Certificate of Fitness
