Position : Nursing Lecturer - Ndola

We are looking for a Nursing Lecturer.
Job Summary
​The Nursing Lecturer is responsible for the design, delivery, and assessment of nursing curricula. They prepare students for professional licensure by providing high-quality classroom instruction and supervising clinical practicums. The role requires a balance of academic teaching, student mentorship, and active participation in the advancement of the nursing profession through research (for Degree programs) and clinical excellence.
​Key Responsibilities
​1. Teaching and Curriculum Development

  • ​Lecture Delivery: Prepare and deliver comprehensive lessons on subjects such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Community Health.
  • ​Program Differentiation: * Diploma Level: Focus on technical skills, bedside care, and fundamental clinical procedures.
    • ​Degree Level: Focus on critical thinking, nursing leadership, complex pathology, and research methodology.
  • ​Curriculum Design: Develop course outlines, lesson plans, and teaching materials in line with the National Nursing Council standards.

​2. Clinical Supervision

  • ​Practicum Oversight: Supervise students during their clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics.
  • ​Skills Lab: Facilitate hands-on training in simulation labs to ensure students master procedures (e.g., IV insertion, wound care) before interacting with patients.
  • ​Assessment: Evaluate student performance in real-world clinical settings, ensuring adherence to safety and ethical protocols.

​3. Student Assessment and Mentorship

  • ​Examination: Create, administer, and grade theoretical exams and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).
  • ​Academic Advising: Act as a mentor to students, providing guidance on career paths and academic struggles.

​4. Research and Professional Development (Specific to Degree Programs)

  • ​Scholarly Activity: Conduct independent or collaborative research to contribute to nursing science.
  • ​Evidence-Based Practice: Teach students how to integrate the latest medical research into patient care.
  • ​Continuous Learning: Maintain active nursing licensure and attend workshops to stay updated on modern medical technologies.

Educational Background & Professional Status

  • ​For Diploma Programs: Must hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized university.
  • ​For Degree Programs: Must hold a Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) or a PhD in a specialized field (e.g., Pediatrics, Midwifery, or Oncology).
  • ​Professional Standing: Active and unencumbered registration with the Nursing Council of Zambia (or relevant national board) with a current practicing license.
  • ​Pedagogical Qualification: A Teaching Methodology Certificate or a Diploma in Education is highly preferred.

​2. Clinical & Professional Experience

  • ​Clinical Mastery: A minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on clinical experience in a hospital setting. The candidate must be able to demonstrate advanced proficiency in nursing procedures.
  • ​Specialization: Candidates with specialized training (e.g., Intensive Care, Theatre, or Neonatal Nursing) are preferred for specialized course modules.
  • ​Teaching History: For Degree programs, prior experience in curriculum development and supervising undergraduate dissertations is essential.

​3. Key Technical Competencies

  • ​Clinical Simulation: Ability to use high-fidelity mannequins and simulation technology to teach practical skills.
  • ​ICT Proficiency: Skilled in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle or Google Classroom, and conducting virtual lectures via Zoom or Teams.
  • ​Research Literacy: (Primarily for Degree Lecturers) Proven ability to design research studies, analyze data using software (like SPSS), and publish in peer-reviewed journals.

​4. Soft Skills & Behavioral Attributes

  • ​Ethical Leadership: Must act as a role model for the "Nurses' Pledge of Service," demonstrating high integrity and professional ethics.
