Position : Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist - Remote
Western Governors University (WGU) is seeking a skilled Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist to oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to assess program effectiveness. This role is crucial in ensuring continuous improvement, measuring performance outcomes, and providing actionable insights to enhance university programs and operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement M&E frameworks to track program performance.
- Design data collection tools and oversee surveys, assessments, and evaluations.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and insights.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through quality control measures.
- Collaborate with departments to integrate M&E findings into decision-making.
- Provide recommendations for program improvements based on evaluation results.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and standards.

Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Education, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, STATA, R, Python, or Power BI).
- Strong knowledge of M&E methodologies, frameworks, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Experience using survey tools (Google Forms, KoboToolbox, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.).
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data visualization) and other reporting tools.
- Understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Soft Skills:
- Analytical and critical thinking – Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Attention to detail – Ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Problem-solving skills – Identifying trends and making data-driven recommendations.
- Communication skills – Strong written and verbal abilities for report writing and stakeholder engagement.
- Adaptability – Ability to work independently and collaborate with remote teams.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, Data Analysis, or a related field.
- Experience in the education, nonprofit, or research sector is preferred.
- Previous work in program evaluation, impact assessment, and performance tracking is a plus.
