Position : Miner Assistant - Johanesburg

We are looking for a Truck Operator Assistant.
Missions:

  • Assist the truck operator in collecting products at silos and delivering them to the blasting face.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and maintenance of the vehicle, refilling area, and other work areas.
  • Perform risk assessments and complete safe work declarations with the blaster before entering the workplace, in line with client requirements.
  • Assist the blaster in preparing the blast/charge-up area, adhering to all statutory, legal, client, and BME standards.
  • Inspect the site with the blaster to identify the target block and plan the blasting process.
  • Mark off the working area by erecting the required barricading material as prescribed by the client.
  • Map the holes to confirm correct placement and measure/check the depth to ensure accurate drilling.
  • Address any deviations from prescribed standards by assertively communicating with mine staff, drill contractors, or the Foreman.
  • Collect the necessary accessories for the blasting assignment as instructed by the Blaster.
  • Place all detonators and boosters at the collar of the hole to prepare for priming of the blast holes according to the blast plan issued by the mine.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics (Mandatory)
    • Code 08 / Code B License (Advantageous)
    • Magazine Master Ticket (Advantageous)
    • Blasting Assistant Certificate (MQA) (Advantageous)
    • Stemming Loader (Advantageous)

    Experience:

    • Previous experience in a Blasting/Mining environment
    • 2 years of experience as a Blasting Assistant
