Position : Medical Lecturer - Ndola

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Lecturer to train the next generation of doctors. You will be tasked with conducting lectures, supervising bedside teaching, and assessing student performance in clinical blocks.
Responsibilities :
1. Academic Instruction & Pedagogy

  • Lecture Delivery: Prepare and deliver high-quality theoretical lectures and tutorials in specialized nursing and midwifery courses.
  • Lesson Planning: Develop comprehensive lesson plans, course outlines, and instructional materials that align with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ) standards.
  • Clinical Skills Training: Conduct practical demonstrations and supervise students in the Skills Laboratory to ensure mastery of clinical procedures before hospital placement.

2. Clinical Supervision & Mentorship

  • Hospital Bedside Teaching: Supervise and evaluate students during clinical rotations in various hospital wards to ensure the integration of theory and practice.
  • Professional Mentorship: Act as an academic advisor, providing guidance on professional ethics, career pathways, and academic performance.
  • Competency Assessment: Conduct "Return Demonstrations" and clinical assessments to certify student competency in nursing and midwifery skills.

3. Assessment & Examination

  • Continuous Assessment: Design, administer, and mark quizzes, assignments, and mid-term tests.
  • Examination Management: Participate in the setting, moderation, and invigilation of End-of-Semester and Mock Examinations.
  • Licensure Preparation: Prepare students for the NMCZ Professional Licensure Examinations, ensuring high pass rates through intensive revision and coaching.

4. Curriculum & Quality Assurance

  • Curriculum Development: Participate in the periodic review and updating of the nursing curriculum to reflect emerging healthcare trends and global best practices.
  • Compliance: Ensure all teaching and clinical activities strictly adhere to the NMCZ Regulatory Framework and university policies.
  • Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including attendance registers and clinical logbooks.

5. Research & Community Service

  • Scholarly Activity: Engage in nursing and midwifery research, contributing to peer-reviewed journals and attending academic conferences.
  • Research Supervision: Guide undergraduate students in the development and execution of their research projects and dissertations.
  • University Service: Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and community outreach programs organized by the university.

Key Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Academic: Must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent primary medical degree.

    • Note: A Master of Medicine (MMed) or a Master’s in a related clinical field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of post-internship clinical experience or medical training/teaching experience.
  • Professional Registration: Must be fully registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and hold a current, unrestricted practicing license.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills and a passion for medical mentorship and evidence-based practice.
