Logistics Estimator - Edenvale

Purpose: Compile estimates in a timely manner, provide administrative support, and assist with proposals and day-to-day processes in the business development department to ensure accurate and prompt client and prospect estimates.
Duties:
Estimates:

• Compile estimates according to client and agent requirements for all transport modes, both imports and exports
• Request landside and freight charges from agents and service providers worldwide
• Ensure estimate charges correspond to client rates in CargoWise and Forwarding Instructions
• Perform continuous quality checks on estimates
• Utilize knowledge of Customs Tariffs and Port Charges
• Forward estimates to the relevant sales or client services representative for quality checks and client forwarding
• Save approved estimates in Excel format under the client EDOCS tab in CargoWise

Client Queries:

• Attend to any estimate or rate queries
• Communicate any queries and amendments to all parties involved

Administrative Support:

• Provide general administrative support as needed

Proposals:

• Assist in creating and managing proposals

Global Agent Rates Negotiation:

• Negotiate global agent rates
• Maintain client rates and ensure all rate schedules are updated
• Communicate buy and sell rates to operations
• Negotiate rates with third parties
• Apply for necessary costs with relevant agents or third-party suppliers where rates are not on file

Tenders:

• Complete tenders according to client and agent requirements for all transport modes, both imports and exports
• Negotiate rates with carriers/agents on current tenders to ensure the best possible price with a marginable profit
• Submit tenders before deadlines
• Follow up on tenders to check if the company was successful

Adhoc:

• Oversee the Estimates department in the absence of the Estimates Manager.
