Position : Lodge General Manager - Okavango/Chobe

My client is recruiting an experienced General Manager for one of their properties in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
5 years of management experience at a lodge with a qualification in Hospitality is essential.
Experience required:

  • Experience in the service industry especially in dealing with guests and staff Previous experience in running a five-star operation as Lodge Manager or GM for a minimum 5 years
  • Qualification in Hospitality Management is a must An energetic, proactive person with a well-developed concept of the importance of providing a world-class guest experience and the ability to provide that experience
  • Aware, evolved, energetic, compassionate, respectable, good communication and a strong leader
  • Lateral thinking ability Initiative
  • Must be able to cope under pressure to meet guests''' needs
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with staff and guests
  • Attention to detail
  • Diligence and self-motivation to meet deadlines
  • Willingness/ability to share information and teach and inspire others
  • Computer and financial skills
  • Knowledge and experience in business, supervision, and management Knowledge of the functions, operation, and mission of the specific department Better than average written and spoken communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills
  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and lodge staff members

Minimum Requirements:

  • Young, responsible and reliable Afrikaans speaking male
  • Afrikaans and English first and second languages a must
  • Matric / Grade 12
  • 2 to 4 years FULL stock control experience a must, specifically in a retail / warehouse / distribution centre environment
  • Strong administration skills
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Pastel Evolution advantageous)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy very important
  • Able to handle large volumes
  • Good leadership skills and goal orientated.
  • Stable employment record a must (no job hoppers, no unreasonable gaps in employment record etc.)
  • Contactable References a must
  • To start as soon as possible
  • Must reside in Pretoria
