Position : Livestock Attendant / Herder - Lindi, Tanzania

A company based in Tanzania is seeking a dedicated and experienced Livestock Attendant / Herder to take full responsibility for livestocks like sheep and goats.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Care of Livestocks: Ensuring animals feeding, watering, grooming, exercising, and cleanness;
  • Managing grazing and shelter;
  • Health Monitoring: Monitoring Livestock health and preventing disease or death;
  • Observing Livestock to detect early signs of illness or injury and administering medications;
  • Reporting illness or death immediately;
  • Facility Maintenance: Cleaning barns, pens, and enclosures, maintaining fences, and ensuring a safe environment;
  • Farm Operations: Assisting with breeding, milking, sorting, branding, and preparing animals for transport;
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining logs for feed, health, treatments, and production;
  • Equipment: Operating and maintaining farm machinery, tools, and equipment;
  • Public Interaction (if applicable): Educating visitors and volunteers about animals; and
  • Overall responsible for the wellbeing of the Livestock.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of animal husbandry and welfare;
  • Previous livestock herding experience especially of sheep and goats is an added advantage;
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various conditions;
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • Basic record-keeping and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience is preferred over formal qualifications; and
  • Honest, responsible, and reliable.
