BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Career Options Africa Group is a HR Consultancy firm specialized in Recruitment, HR outsourcing and Immigration support in Africa with offices in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, Nigeria, South Africa and South Sudan.
Our client, international trade company that specializes in sourcing high-quality materials from South America and Europe and delivering them to clients across South East Asia is looking for a Legal Counsel to be based in DRC.
THE JOB
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal practice, with 5 to 10 years of experience, preferably within the FMCG sector and will be required to provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the company on a wide range of legal matters.
 
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the company on a wide range of legal matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws and regulations.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant legal developments.
  •  Advise on risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure legal support for business operations.
  • Handle legal issues related to intellectual property, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance specific to the FMCG industry.

QUALIFICATIONS
The job holder should have the following qualifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent to a Master's degree (LLM) is preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law in the DRC.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in legal practice, with a preference for experience in the FMCG sector.
  • Strong knowledge of DRC laws and regulations.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in both French and English is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication i.e., strong command of business English and French.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
