Position : Learning and Development Lead - Spintex
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Learning and Development Lead to build and run a scalable training function that improves workforce capability, client delivery quality, and employee engagement. This role covers both our in-house and remote teams and is a critical driver for restoring client confidence and achieving profitable growth. The L&D Lead will be responsible for spearheading the upskilling of Aya Data's entire workforce and leading the training team in operational excellence to ensure all employees achieve and maintain required competency levels. This role involves designing comprehensive learning strategies, developing training programs, managing learning initiatives across all departments, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. This role is directly tied to improving delivery quality, reducing client complaints, and shortening project ramp-up time, which together drive profitability and client retention, as well as create clear skill development pathways that boost employee retention and motivation.The position requires strategic planning, team leadership, and collaboration with senior management to align learning objectives with business goals and technological advancements in the AI industry.
Responsibilities :
Strategic L&D Leadership
- Develop a company-wide L&D strategy aligned to client demands and growth goals.
- Conduct skills gap analysis across all roles; define competency frameworks.
- Establish measurable KPIs for training impact (e.g., quality scores, rework rate, onboarding time).
Training Design & Delivery
- Create scalable onboarding for in-house staff and freelancers (max 72h ramp-up).
- Build modular training programmes that incorporate client feedback and recurring errors.

- Introduce targeted upskilling in key verticals (e.g., agentic AI, geospatial CV, medical annotation).
- Use blended learning — e-learning, workshops, live sessions — to reach all workforce segments.
Workforce Development & Retention
- Partner with HR to create clear career progression linked to skill development.
- Launch a freelancer readiness programme with pre-vetted, trained candidates ready for deployment in <48 hours.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning with regular knowledge-sharing sessions.
Performance Tracking & Quality
- Monitor workforce performance data to adapt training and address issues early
- Reduce rework rates and speed up delivery without compromising quality.
- Report quarterly to leadership on ROI of L&D programmes.

Qualifications and skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, education, organizational development, or a related field (a master's degree is an added advantage).
- 5+ years of L&D (including remote/freelance workforce training) with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and training methodologies.
- Experience in designing and implementing enterprise-wide learning strategies and programs.
- Skilled in modern learning tech (LMS, microlearning platforms, learning analytics).
- Experience designing competency frameworks and measurable upskilling plans.
- Strong grasp of AI, technology, and data science concepts preferred.
- Budget management and vendor negotiation experience.
- Proven ability to link training to commercial outcomes.
- Professional certifications in learning and development (e.g., CPLP, ATD certifications) is admirable.
Success metrics :
- 30 Days: Skills gap analysis completed, L&D strategy approved.
- 60 Days: Standardised onboarding & core training rolled out.
- 90 Days: Measurable improvements in delivery quality & consistency.
- 6 Months: 20% reduction in repeat quality issues, 15% faster onboarding.
