Position : Laboratory Technician - Addis Ababa

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician.
Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician at Simien Pure Foods is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and consistency of our food products through routine laboratory testing and analysis. The role supports the company’s commitment to producing high-quality, safe food products while complying with food safety regulations and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine microbiological, chemical, and physical tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with quality standards, food safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare, label, and handle samples, reagents, and solutions safely and accurately.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Record and report test results accurately and maintain proper laboratory documentation.
  • Assist in identifying quality deviations and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Support internal audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
  • Follow company SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of laboratory experience in food processing or quality control is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, ISO 22000) and laboratory testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instruments, microbiological and chemical analysis methods.

Skills & Competencies

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in testing and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Basic computer skills for data recording and reporting.
  • Good communication skills in English and/or Amharic.

Working Conditions

  • Laboratory-based role in a food processing environment.
  • May involve standing for long periods and handling food and chemical samples.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
