Under the supervision of the Finance Manager and the Group IT Infrastructure Manager, the IT Coordinator is responsible for the management of Operations IT assets, as well as leading the provision of resilient services, including email, network, and customer-centric service delivery.
The incumbent heads the daily IT Operations and Service Section and drives a team of operations, service support, network, systems, and other technology staff. Apart from the in-depth technical knowledge and expertise required to be successful in this role, a level of business understanding is required to ensure that IT systems, solutions, and services within the area of responsibility meet business requirements and add value. The role is also responsible to manage the implementation of site IT projects.
Responsibilities:
IT Management
- IT performance indicators are measured and monitored in areas of responsibility, and appropriate corrective action is recommended and implemented, where problem areas are identified.
- IT standards, procedures, and guidelines are generated, disseminated, known, and applied within areas of responsibility.
- Conduct IT risk analysis to identify current risk level and develop an action plan for minimizing risk to an acceptable level
- Manage the Infrastructure, Network, Desktop, and Service Delivery teams to ensure the voice & data network, server, storage, and end-user environments are effectively maintained and supported.
- Responsible for ensuring IT facilities are maintained to provide reliable services for the site, including working with service providers to ensure that the environment is stable and highly available.
- Ensure performance issues are identified, tracked, escalated, communicated and actions are taken towards resolution and drives issues to closure.
- Ensures that service providers are carrying out all aspects of contractual obligation for proactive and preventative maintenance of IT facilities or other service delivery, as applicable.
- Manage the internal and hosted network infrastructure including firewalls, servers, switches, and telephony
- Ensure both cloud and local backups are performed and secured
- When necessary, launch new initiatives and projects that improve upon support-related processes to meet changing customer needs.
- Promote a customer-centric business approach.
- Interact with clients daily to understand IT issues and provide competent solutions
- Coordinate maintenance upgrade programs of hardware infrastructure
- Maintain records in the help desk system.
Staff Development
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of the junior team to identify areas requiring improvement and implement training and coaching measures to ensure employees receive sufficient training enabling them to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner

- Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programs
- Conduct formal career development discussions with employees and identify development opportunities and programs that assist with defining future career progression possibilities
- Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments.
Safety Management
- Demonstrate personal commitment with regards to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices
- Ensure every person within the team is fit for work
- Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures
- Ensure hazard management plans are observed
- Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.

Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in IT/Information Systems or equivalent qualification
- Certifications in Information Systems Management, Microsoft, and Network
- ITIL, COBIT, CCNA, MCSA/E, Security + certifications will be an advantage
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in the IT industry with 3 years in similar level-roles
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining industry
- French / English language skills essential
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and experience implementing IT systems, hardware, and software in large-scale operations
- Experience of working effectively in a senior management team environment
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and build effective relationships and networks
- Possesses training and mentoring skills with the ability to develop an effective team
- Ability to respond to a changing work environment
- The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time
- A reputation for integrity and ethics.
