Position : Head of Lower Primary - Nairobi
The Head of Lower Primary is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the academic, administrative, and pastoral aspects of the Lower Primary section (Pre-primary to Grade 3). The position ensures the delivery of high-quality education aligned with the school’s mission, vision, and curriculum standards while fostering a nurturing environment that promotes holistic child development.
Missions:
Academic Leadership
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Lower Primary curriculum in alignment with the CBC (Competency-Based Curriculum) framework and other educational guidelines.
- Ensure high teaching standards by mentoring, guiding, and evaluating Lower Primary teachers.
- Review and approve schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources to ensure they meet learning objectives.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate interventions.
- Foster innovation in teaching and learning by integrating modern pedagogical methods and technology in classrooms.
Administrative Duties
- Coordinate timetables, class schedules, and teacher assignments for the Lower Primary section.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and senior management.
- Manage the allocation of resources, such as textbooks, teaching materials, and classroom equipment, for Lower Primary.
- Ensure adherence to school policies, health, and safety regulations within the section.
Student Development and Wellbeing
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Monitor students' emotional, social, and academic progress, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Collaborate with parents, counselors, and teachers to address student behavioral or learning challenges.
- Organize co-curricular activities, events, and programs that foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students.
Teacher Support and Development
- Supervise and appraise Lower Primary teachers, providing constructive feedback and identifying professional development needs.
- Organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and collaborative planning sessions for Lower Primary staff.
- Encourage a collaborative culture among teachers to share best practices and address challenges collectively.
Parental Engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents through meetings, newsletters, and progress reports to update them on their child’s learning journey.
- Address parent concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring positive relationships between the school and families.
Strategic Planning and School Growth
- Contribute to the school’s strategic planning process by setting goals and priorities for the Lower Primary section.
- Collaborate with senior management to align the section’s activities with the overall mission and vision of the school.
- Identify areas for growth and innovation within the section and propose actionable improvement plans.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Achievement of academic performance targets for Lower Primary students.
- Positive feedback from teachers, parents, and students regarding leadership and learning outcomes.
- Effective implementation of the CBC curriculum and alignment with school goals.
- Teacher performance and professional growth based on appraisals and observations.
- Successful coordination and execution of events, programs, and co-curricular activities.

Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a holder of a Diploma in ECDE, a Bachelors Degree will be an added advantage
- At least 5 years of teaching experience in a primary school setting, with 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge and experience with the CBC curriculum and pedagogical methods.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team of teachers effectively.
