Position : Data Collection Officer - Kenya

Introduction
We are conducting a nationwide employment research study aimed at understanding the employment rate and labour dynamics in Kenya. To support this important initiative, we are seeking to engage Data Collection Officers across all counties to participate in field-based data collection.
This study targets Kenyan citizens aged 21 years and above and seeks to generate reliable data to inform policy, planning, and socio-economic development interventions.
Job Description
The Data Collection Officers will be responsible for collecting accurate and complete data from respondents within assigned locations.
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Collecting and recording respondent information, including:
    • Age
    • Name
    • County of residence
    • Profession
    • Employment status (employed, self-employed, retired, or combined employment)
  • Ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality
  • Adhering to research guidelines, ethical standards, and timelines
  • Submitting completed data within the specified reporting framework

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum academic qualification: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Integrity, professionalism, and respect for confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently in the field
  • Familiarity with the local area and ability to engage respondents courteously

Previous experience in data collection, surveys, or field research will be an added advantage but is not mandatory.
