Position : Cooperative Liaison Officer (Farmer Sourcing) - Field Based
We are looking for a Cooperative Liaison Officer (Farmer Sourcing).
Job Purpose
The Cooperative Liaison Officer is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, and unions to ensure a reliable, high-quality, and sustainable supply of raw agricultural materials for Simien Pure Foods. The role acts as a bridge between the company and farming communities, supporting contract farming, quality improvement, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Farmer & Cooperative Engagement
- Identify, register, and manage relationships with farmer cooperatives, unions, and individual out-growers
- Serve as the main point of contact between Simien Pure Foods and farming partners
- Support negotiation and implementation of supply agreements and contracts
- Build long-term partnerships based on trust, transparency, and mutual benefit
Sourcing & Supply Management
- Coordinate collection and delivery of raw materials according to production plans
- Monitor supply volumes, seasonal availability, and delivery schedules
- Support fair pricing mechanisms aligned with company policies and market conditions
- Assist in forecasting raw material needs with Procurement and Production teams
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure farmers and cooperatives understand quality specifications and acceptance criteria
- Coordinate basic quality checks at farm or collection center level
- Support implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
- Report quality issues and work with farmers to improve compliance
Training & Capacity Building
- Organize and support farmer training on quality, handling, storage, and hygiene
- Collaborate with NGOs, government offices, and extension agents when required
- Promote productivity, sustainability, and continuous improvement among farmers
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of farmers, cooperatives, volumes, and deliveries
- Prepare regular sourcing and field activity reports
- Support traceability documentation for audits and food safety requirements
Stakeholder & Community Relations
- Liaise with local government offices, cooperative agencies, and community leaders
- Support conflict resolution related to sourcing, pricing, or delivery issues
- Represent Simien Pure Foods positively in farming communities

Qualifications and Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Supply Chain, or related field
Experience
- Minimum 3 years experience working with farmers, cooperatives, or agricultural supply chains
- Experience in contract farming or out-grower schemes is an advantage
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Good understanding of Ethiopian agricultural systems and cooperative structures
- Basic knowledge of crop quality, post-harvest handling, and logistics
- Ability to work independently in rural and field-based environments
- Good reporting and documentation skills
Language & Mobility
- Fluency in Amharic required; knowledge of local languages is an advantage
- Willingness to travel frequently to sourcing areas
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reliability and consistency of raw material supply
- Quality compliance rate of sourced materials
- Number and performance of active cooperatives/farmers
- Timeliness of deliveries
- Farmer satisfaction and retention
Working Conditions
- Field-based role with frequent travel to rural areas
- May require working during peak harvest seasons
- Exposure to rural and agricultural environmen
