About Energy Generation
Energy Generation is a pan-African organization that encourages young Africans to tackle their generation's most pressing challenges through entrepreneurship and technology. It aims to support and promote technological and entrepreneurial innovations in order to identify, develop and widely disseminate practical solutions "made in Africa".
Since 2016, we have implemented several innovative programs that combine training, incubation and investment readiness to help promising entrepreneurs scale their businesses by accessing the market and funding opportunities.
About this offer 
Over the past 8 years, we've had the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs addressing a wide range of issues in our 3 core areas of expertise (energy, agri-business and healthcare). On the strength of this experience, we have identified 15 issues (5 per theme) on which we intend to focus our efforts over the coming years, using a startup studio approach. This offer is in line with this approach.
Theme: HealthProblematic: Health care financing
Access to healthcare is a fundamental right, but for many people in Africa it remains an insurmountable challenge due to high costs and a lack of appropriate financing solutions. We are determined to change this by developing innovations that make healthcare more accessible, affordable and effective for all.
As part of our Entrepreneurial Residency program, Energy Generation is calling for applications to form the founding team of a startup focused on healthcare financing in Africa. 
We therefore carried out an initial market study which enabled us to identify the existing market potential for healthcare financing in Africa.
Energy Generation is ready to support the implementation of these ideas by a dynamic and talented team.
Market opportunities
Thanks to our preliminary market study, we have identified 7 areas with strong development potential:

1. Financing the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases: We believe that by investing in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, we can reduce the financial burden and improve the quality of life of millions of people in Africa.
2. Digitization of healthcare infrastructures and medical credit: By combining the digitization of healthcare infrastructures with innovative financing solutions such as medical credit, we can optimize return on investment while ensuring equitable access to healthcare for all patients.
3. Mobile money savings systems and micro-insurance: By exploiting the growing popularity of mobile money services, we can create savings systems and micro-insurance that offer financial protection against unexpected health expenses, even for the most vulnerable populations.
4. Consulting and cost optimization services for patients: Offer consulting services that help patients navigate the healthcare system and optimize their spending.
5. Interoperable medical record management platforms: Create systems that enable efficient and secure management of medical records, promoting collaboration between different healthcare providers and improving the quality of care.
6. Funding identification and management tool for healthcare establishments: a platform that helps hospitals and clinics to identify and manage funding and funds efficiently, integrating functionalities for financial tracking and reporting.
7. Health insurance comparator for SMEs and cooperatives: A service that tailors insurance policies to the specific needs of formalized and informal small and medium-sized enterprises, using analysis tools to customize offers.

 
Roles to be filled 
As a co-founder, you could take on one of the following roles, each with a crucial mission within the company:

• CEO (Chief Executive Officer): Defines overall strategy, leads execution and liaises with the Board of Directors and investors.
• CTO (Chief Technology Officer): Leads technology initiatives, oversees product development and innovation.
• COO (Chief Operating Officer): Manages day-to-day operations, optimizes processes and ensures operational efficiency.
• CFO (Chief Financial Officer): Oversees finance, financial planning, risk management and economic analysis.
• CMO (Chief Marketing Officer): Leads marketing and branding efforts, develops market strategies and drives growth.

You won't be starting this entrepreneurial adventure alone, but surrounded by a qualified, multidisciplinary team with whom you'll have the unique opportunity to participate in the creation of a high-impact company that is transforming healthcare in Africa.

Conditions of employment
Remuneration :

• No initial salary: As a co-founder, you embark on your entrepreneurial adventure with no initial salary. 
• Equity participation: You'll get a substantial share of the company, divided up according to your contributions, experience and involvement.
• Future remuneration: After the first fund-raising round, the co-founders will decide together how they will be remunerated.

Commitment:

• Full-time commitment: We strongly recommend a full-time commitment to maximize your chances of success. The more time you invest, the faster you'll be able to grow your startup.
• Flexible roles: We understand that situations may vary from one co-founder to another, so the level of commitment will be reflected in the initial distribution of company shares between partners.
• Dynamic working hours: Your working hours will be flexible, guided by the needs of the start-up and the culture established by your team of co-founders.

Location:

• Ideal location: Our hub in Lomé offers first-class infrastructure to support the growth of start-ups (co-working, FabLab, amphitheater, etc.).
• Geographical flexibility: Although a presence in Lomé is advantageous, our program supports remote development in all African markets.
• Regular commitment: Frequent visits to Lomé for training and support activities are encouraged to maximize your start-up's potential.

Financing :

• Selective process: rigorous selection of startup models and co-founders to guarantee eligibility for funding.
• Seed funding: Access up to €20,000 in seed funding through our partnership with Digital Africa to finance the development of your MVP (Minimum Viable Product).
• Progressive investment: proven progress in your startup's development may unlock additional financing of up to €350,000.

Short- and long-term objectives :

• First 3 months: In-depth market research; formalizing your start-up; setting up governance; raising the first seed capital.
• First 6 months: Develop your MVP and get the first customer feedback. 
• First year: Generate the first revenues, demonstrate traction, and prepare a significant fund-raising operation to accelerate development.
