Position : Blaster Opencast - Phalaborwa, Limpopo

Full job description:
We urgently require the services of a skilled and qualified Blaster who will join our fast-growing Opencast mine situated in Phalaborwa.
Duties:

  • Manage blasting assistants
  • Safely transport loads of explosives
  • Follow strict procedures around potentially hazardous materials
  • Thoroughly interpret federal and provincial legislation
  • Fill blast holes with explosives and detonate explosives to dislodge ore and rock or to demolish structures.
  • Carry out inspections on explosives and equipment used
  • Conduct field tests to determine type and quantity of explosives required
  • Assemble primer charges using selected detonators, fuses, denotating cords and other materials
  • Complete all safety requirements for all applicable equipment and machinery
  • Assist with assessment and allocation of required supplies
  • Maintain accurate data / records / documentation
  • Carry out designated projects in accordance with requirements
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and all related legal / statutory regulations, policies and procedures, codes, professional duties, responsibilities and obligations and insert as applicable.

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Experience:

  • Blasting: 5 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Blasting License / Certification (Required).

Requirements:

  • No less than 5 years' experience as a Blaster (not blasting assistant)
  • Blasting Certification
  • Competency A will be an added advantage
  • Valid Code EB / Code 8 license.
