Role Description
My client is a boutique coliving hotel on the Kenyan coast. As a triple-bottom-line (3BL) business, social impact is central to what they do
The property currently operates as a 7-room site with a strong long-stay community focus and an on-site pizzeria. The business will relocate within the next 12 months and scale to approximately 28 rooms over the next three years. The successful candidate will operate with a high level of autonomy and act as the on-site operational manager responsible for day-to-day performance.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee full property operations: front office, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen and guest services
- Establish systems, processes, and SOPs
- Ensure strong coordination between the team
- Monitor daily performance and implement continuous improvements where necessary
Team Leadership
- Recruit, supervise, and develop staff
- Manage staffing levels, schedules, and labour compliance
- Conduct reviews and coaching
- Ensure clear organisation and accountability across the team
Financial Management
- Assist with budgets and financial planning
- Monitor occupancy and operational costs
- Implement cost control measures
- Provide regular updates to ownership
Sales, Marketing & Partnerships
- Support occupancy growth through local partnerships and community engagement
- Work with corporate clients, institutions and stakeholders
- Support marketing campaigns, events, and promotions
Guest Experience
- Maintain high service standards across all touchpoints
- Personally manage escalated guest concerns
- Monitor reviews and feedback to drive service improvements
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, labour law, and licensing requirements
- Conduct regular operational and quality audits
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and service

Candidate Profile
Essential
- 4+ years in small hotel, serviced apartment, or boutique property operations
- Currently Assistant GM, Operations Manager, or Senior Duty Manager level
- Strong commercial awareness (occupancy, budgets, etc)
Highly Desired
- Experience in boutique, lodge, or small-property environments
- Experience with long-stay, coliving, or community-led hospitality
