Position : Accountant - Saldanha

Our manufacturing client in Saldanha is looking for an Accountant with 3 years accounting and payroll experience (small amount). Experience from a manufacturing environment an added bonus as well as cost accounting an added bonus

Responsibilities

  • Combine experience in general accounting functions with small payroll administration, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with labour and tax regulations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Monitor cost of production, raw material usage, energy consumption, and yield variances.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Administer small payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, bonuses, deductions, and leave balances.
  • Reconcile small payroll transactions and interface with the general ledger.
  • Prepare small payroll reports for internal use and external compliance (e.g., tax filings, benefits reporting).
  • Work with HR to maintain employee confidentiality and accurate compensation records.
  • Stay current on payroll regulations, labor laws, and industry-specific agreements.

Qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year of direct small payroll processing experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting, especially in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., Sage Cloud Accounting and Sage Cloud Business Payroll.
