Position : IT Manager - Gaborone

We are looking for an IT Manager.
The IT Manager serves as a strategic enabler of HRMB’s business objectives by leading the development and execution of a secure, scalable, and future-fit technology environment. The role is responsible for driving digital transformation, strengthening data-driven decision-making, and ensuring that IT systems effectively support managed healthcare operations. 
This includes aligning technology initiatives with organisational strategy, regulatory requirements, and emerging healthcare trends, while enabling efficient, compliant, and innovative service delivery. Through strong leadership of IT infrastructure, systems, and teams, the IT Manager will position HRMB as a forward-looking, technology-enabled managed care organisation within Botswana’s evolving healthcare landscape.
Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Support organisational digital transformation initiatives to ensure HRMB is future-fit
  • Align IT initiatives with regulatory requirements and evolving healthcare industry standards
  • Forecast technology trends and recommend innovation-driven improvements
  • Develop and implement IT policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Align IT initiatives with organisational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and manage the annual IT budget

Infrastructure, Security and Disaster Recovery

  • Maintain and optimise hardware, software, networks and cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity, data protection and compliance frameworks.
  • Ensure data security, backup, and disaster recovery plans are in place.
  • Oversee the maintenance and optimisation of servers cloud services.
  • Ensure secure and effective operation of all systems, applications, and hardware.

Data Management and Analytics

  • Drive data governance, integrity, and accessibility across systems
  • Support data-driven decision-making through analytics and reporting capabilities
  • Contribute to initiatives aligned with national data intelligence and real-time service visibility trends

Project Management, Vendor Management and Compliance

  • Oversee IT projects from initiation to completion within scope, time, and budget.
  • Management vendor relationships and ensure value delivery
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and governance frameworks

Team Leadership and Service Delivery

  • Lead, mentor and develop IT team members
  • Foster a high performance, service oriented culture
  • Manage helpdesk operations and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintain high levels of user satisfaction and system uptime.

Required profile for job ad : IT Manager - Gaborone

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/ Computer Science
  • 7-10 years experience within an IT environment, preferably in a medical aid/healthcare sector
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Botswana’s regulatory environment (including medical schemes and data protection requirements)
  • Proven experience in service delivery, incident/change management and IT operations.
