Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Community Development Officer to lead, design, and oversee community development initiatives. The role focuses on managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and driving sustainable social and economic programs that create meaningful impact in communities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community development programs.
  • Conduct detailed community needs assessments and translate findings into actionable strategies.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to community development officers and field staff.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Mobilize community participation and foster local ownership of development initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for resource mobilization, partnerships, and program expansion.
  • Advocate for inclusive, gender-responsive, and sustainable community development practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years progressive experience in community development, social impact programs, or related development work.
  • Proven leadership experience managing community-based projects and teams.
  • Strong understanding of participatory development approaches, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in multicultural, field-based environments.
