Job Title: Commodity Sourcing Officer

Job Summary
The Commodity Sourcing Officer at GeenGate Foods is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and securing essential agricultural commodities and raw materials needed for production. This role ensures cost-effective procurement, maintains supplier relationships, and supports the company’s supply chain goals by managing contracts, quality standards, and logistics coordination.
 Key Responsibilities
1. Commodity Sourcing & Procurement

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for agricultural commodities (e.g., grains, oilseeds, pulses, perishables) relevant to GeenGate Foods’ production needs.
  • Conduct market research to monitor price trends, availability, and quality factors.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contracts with local and regional suppliers.

2. Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, farmers, cooperatives, and distributors.
  • Conduct supplier assessments, performance evaluations, and due diligence.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with quality standards, delivery timelines, and ethical sourcing practices.

3. Quality Assurance Support

  • Work with Quality Assurance and Production teams to ensure raw materials meet food safety, technical, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate incoming commodity inspections and resolve discrepancies.

4. Logistics & Coordination

  • Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and proper storage of commodities.
  • Track purchase orders, delivery schedules, and inventory levels to minimize stockouts and overstock.

5. Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of sourcing activities, supplier contracts, pricing data, and procurement reports.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to the Supply Chain Manager on market trends, risks, and opportunities.

6. Risk & Compliance

  • Monitor commodity market fluctuations and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure procurement practices align with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.

Required profile for job ad : Commodity Sourcing Officer - Accra

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Agriculture, Economics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in procurement, commodity sourcing, or supply chain operations (ideally in agribusiness or food processing).
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of Ghanaian agricultural markets and commodity supply chains.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (especially Excel) and procurement systems.
  • Ability to travel regionally as needed for supplier engagement.
