Position : Surveyor - Garowe
Role Overview
We are looking for a Surveyor.
The Surveyor is responsible for supporting all surveying activities across the project, including housing construction, infrastructure works, and utilities. The role involves establishing and maintaining accurate survey control, setting out works, verifying construction accuracy, and supporting mapping and documentation of underground and above-ground services.
The Surveyor plays a critical technical role in ensuring that all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved designs, alignments, levels, and coordinates, while maintaining accurate survey records for construction, verification, and handover purposes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Construction Surveying & Setting Out
- Establish and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, and reference grids across the project site.
- Carry out setting-out works for housing units, buildings, roads, and infrastructure in accordance with approved drawings and coordinates.
- Verify levels, alignments, dimensions, and positions of constructed works.
- Provide survey support to site engineers and contractors during construction activities.
2. Infrastructure & Road Surveying
- Support surveying works for roads, pavements, drainage, and utility corridors.
- Conduct alignment, profile, and level surveys for road construction and associated infrastructure.
- Verify road geometry, cross-sections, slopes, camber, and formation levels in accordance with design requirements.
- Assist in as-built surveys for infrastructure works.
3. GIS, GPS & Utility Mapping
- Use GPS and surveying instruments to capture accurate spatial data for site features and underground services.
- Map and document underground utilities and services including drainage, water, electrical, and communication networks.
- Prepare geospatial data and service records using ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms.
- Support development and maintenance of utility maps and service drawings for project records and handover.
4. Data Processing & CAD Support
- Process survey data and prepare drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Generate topographic surveys, alignment drawings, profiles, and cross-sections.
- Assist in updating drawings and survey data based on site changes and construction progress.
- Maintain consistency between survey data, design drawings, and construction execution.
5. As-Built Surveys & Verification
- Conduct as-built surveys for completed works across housing, infrastructure, and utilities.
- Verify constructed works against approved designs and report deviations.
- Prepare accurate as-built drawings and survey documentation for submission and handover.
6. Coordination & Technical Interface
- Coordinate with site engineers, consultants, and contractors on survey requirements.
- Support technical reviews related to levels, alignments, boundaries, and spatial data.
- Provide timely survey data to support construction sequencing and planning.
7. Survey Records & Documentation
- Maintain accurate survey records, logs, and control data.
- Ensure proper storage and management of survey files, drawings, and datasets.
- Support preparation of survey reports and technical submissions.

A detail-oriented Surveyor with strong experience supporting housing construction, roads, infrastructure, and utility works. Skilled in establishing and maintaining survey control, performing accurate setting-out, verifying levels and alignments, and delivering reliable as-built surveys for handover. Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS/GNSS, and ArcGIS for topographic surveys, profiles/cross-sections, and utility mapping (underground and above-ground services). Strong in site coordination, data processing, documentation, and ensuring all works comply with approved designs, coordinates, and construction tolerances.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working as a Surveyor on construction and infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting both housing developments and infrastructure works is preferred.
Technical Skills & Software Proficiency
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD for survey drawings and documentation.
- Advanced working knowledge of Civil 3D for surfaces, alignments, profiles, and corridors.
- Experience using GPS surveying equipment and data collection methods.
- Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS or similar GIS software for spatial data management and utility mapping.
- Good understanding of road surveying principles, coordinate systems, and construction tolerances.
- Familiarity with survey control establishment, datum management, and coordinate transformation.
