Position : Academic Director - Nairobi
We are looking for an Academic Director.
Role Overview
The Academic Director provides strategic leadership and oversight of the school’s academic programmes to ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and student achievement. The role is responsible for curriculum implementation, academic standards, faculty development, and continuous improvement across all academic divisions in alignment with international best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s academic curriculum (e.g. British, IB, Cambridge, or other international frameworks).
- Ensure academic excellence and consistency across all grade levels.
- Set and monitor academic goals, standards, and performance indicators.
Curriculum and Assessment
- Oversee curriculum planning, assessment policies, and reporting systems.
- Ensure alignment of teaching practices with curriculum objectives and accreditation requirements.
- Monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve learning outcomes.
Faculty Management & Development
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate teaching staff in collaboration with Heads of Department.
- Identify professional development needs and organise training programmes.
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies and effective use of educational technology.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with international education standards, regulatory requirements,and inspection frameworks.
- Support accreditation and inspection processes.
- Maintain academic policies, procedures, and documentation.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Head of School, school leadership team, and parents on academic matters.
- Foster a positive academic culture focused on excellence, integrity, and student wellbeing.
- Address academic concerns raised by parents or students.

Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Recognised teaching qualification and professional certification.
- Minimum 7–10 years’ teaching experience, with at least 3–5 years in academic leadership.
- Strong knowledge of international curricula and assessment frameworks.
- Experience in an international or multicultural school environment is highly desirable.
