Job Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and monitoring of production processes to improve efficiency, product quality, and food safety. The role works closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations, minimize waste, and apply best practices in food manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Process Design & Optimization

  • Analyze existing production processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvement and waste reduction.
  • Design, test, and implement new or improved production processes to enhance product quality, yield, and safety.
  • Develop and standardize process flows, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Collaboration & Technical Support

  • Work closely with Production, QA, and Maintenance teams to ensure effective process integration.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve operational challenges and ensure SOP compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D or Product Development teams to scale new products from pilot stage to full production.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Ensure all processes comply with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and quality requirements.
  • Support the QA team in investigating and resolving process-related quality issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product consistency and food safety.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Monitor key process parameters, production data, and performance indicators.
  • Prepare process documentation, technical reports, and improvement recommendations for management.
  • Participate in process audits and recommend corrective actions for any deviations.

Equipment & Maintenance Support

  • Recommend equipment modifications or upgrades to improve efficiency, reliability, and capacity.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and assist in troubleshooting process-related equipment issues.

Qualifications & Experience
Education & Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional training or certification in food processing, process optimization, or industrial engineering is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 2–4 years’ experience in food processing, manufacturing, or process engineering roles.
  • Experience in scaling production processes, improving operational efficiency, or working with food safety systems is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid knowledge of food production processes, hygiene, and food safety standards.
  • Ability to develop, optimize, and maintain SOPs and process documentation.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.

Working Conditions

  • Factory-based role with regular presence on production lines.
  • Exposure to food production environments; strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards is required.
  • May require occasional overtime or shift work, depending on production schedules.
