Position : Growth and Field Operations Lead (Marketing Officer) - Harare

SME Association of Zimbabwe is seeking to recruit a Growth and Field Operations Lead (Marketing Officer) for our Harare office. The position is responsible for the aggressive expansion of the association’s membership base through field-based cluster mapping and the leadership of a high-performance sales team.
Responsibilities include:

  • Mapping high-potential MSME clusters to identify recruitment opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing "go-to-market" strategies tailored to specific trades and MSME sector dynamics.
  • Recruiting, training, and daily management of a team of ground-level Field Sales Representatives.
  • Setting and monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly recruitment and deposit targets for the field team.
  • Organizing "Market Storms" and physical activations to build brand visibility and trust within the MSME sector.
  • Identifying and engaging with market influencers and cluster leadership to facilitate membership entry.
  • Driving the adoption of the SMEAZ digital platforms by ensuring field-level digital onboarding of new members.
  • Ensuring the transition from digital-only marketing to a "High-Touch" physical sales model.

Required profile for job ad : Growth and Field Operations Lead (Marketing Officer) - Harare

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Degree in Marketing, Business Studies, or a related field.
  • At least three to five years’ experience in a sales-driven role within Microfinance, FMCG, or the Telecom/Mobile Money sector.
  • Deep understanding of the Zimbabwean informal economy, including cluster structures and "mukando" culture.
  • Proven experience in managing and motivating commission-based sales teams.
  • Demonstrated capacity to operate in a high-pressure, field-based environment (70-80% of time spent in the field).
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in Shona and English (Ndebele is an added advantage).
  • Strong digital skills and proficiency in using mobile applications for reporting and tracking.

Remuneration:

  • A competitive base salary plus an aggressive performance-based incentive tier which is directly tied to the volume of new members recruited and total deposits generated by the field team.
