Position : Lead Consultant – CAD Training of Trainers (ToT) | Apparel Sector - Accra

The Foreign Trade Association of German Retailers (AVE), in close partnership with a Ghanaian industry association and with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is seeking an experienced consultant to lead the preparation phase of a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Training of Trainers programme for the apparel sector.
This assignment sits at the intersection of production reality, skills development, and sector strengthening. The goal is not a one off training, but a solid, scalable foundation for long term CAD capacity within Ghana’s garment industry.

The outputs of this assignment will serve as the technical and conceptual backbone for subsequent training phases, ensuring they are relevant to industry needs, realistic in the local context, and strong enough to stand on their own over time.
Scope of work
Under the guidance of AVE and the partner association, the Lead Consultant will:

  • Conduct a structured needs assessment among selected member companies to map current CAD usage, skills gaps, and operational requirements
  • Review available apparel CAD software solutions and recommend those most suitable for the member base
  • Design the overall CAD Training of Trainers concept and learning pathway
  • Develop a modular, competency based CAD curriculum tailored to real production environments
  • Design assessment, qualification, and testing frameworks for future CAD trainers
  • Define trainee profiles, skill sets, and selection criteria
  • Provide clear recommendations on training duration, delivery formats, and implementation considerations for next steps

Required profile for job ad : Lead Consultant – CAD Training of Trainers (ToT) | Apparel Sector - Accra

This role is for someone with deep technical credibility who also understands how skills are transferred and sustained.
Required profile:

  • Advanced degree or equivalent professional qualification in apparel technology, fashion design, industrial engineering, or a related field
  • At least 8 to 10 years of hands on experience with industrial apparel CAD systems in production environments
  • Proven experience designing Training of Trainers programmes and technical curricula
  • Solid CAD training experience
  • Strong working knowledge of leading apparel CAD platforms such as Gerber AccuMark, Lectra, Optitex, CLO3D, or comparable systems
  • Experience working with industry associations, MSMEs, or donor funded development projects
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and report writing skills

Reporting
The Lead Consultant will report to AVE and work closely with both AVE and the partner association.
