Position : Business Development Representative (Cocoa Market) - Yamoussoukro, Abidjan, or San Pedro

We are recruiting, on behalf of one of our clients in the Cocoa sector, a Business Development Representative based in Yamoussoukro, Abidjan, or San Pedro.
Key Responsibilities : 
1) Market Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth research on local cocoa market dynamics, pricing trends, supply chain structures, and competitor activities.
  • Identify key players, potential partners, and market opportunities to support our sourcing and expansion strategies.

2) Partner Identification & Relationship Management:

  • Find, evaluate, and engage with reliable local suppliers, cooperatives, and logistical partners to build sustainable business relationships.
  • Maintain continuous communication with partners to monitor performance, ensure compliance with agreements, and address operational challenges promptly.

3) Documentation & Compliance:

  • Complete and submit required documentation (agreements, transaction records, compliance forms) accurately and on time on behalf of our company.
  • Ensure adherence to local regulations and our company’s quality, sustainability, and ethical sourcing standards.

4) Representation & Coordination:

  • Act as the point of contact between local cocoa suppliers and our central procurement team. Participate in local industry events, meetings, and site visits to strengthen our network and market presence.
  • Loading supervision, Weight supervision during loading processes.
  • Quality checkup organization.

5) Reporting:

  • Provide regular updates and analytical reports on market activities, potential risks, partner performance, and sourcing opportunities to management.
  • Propose actionable recommendations to enhance our cocoa sourcing strategies in the local market.

Required profile for job ad : Business Development Representative (Cocoa Market) - Yamoussoukro, Abidjan, or San Pedro

  • At least 3 Years of experience in the Cocoa Sector 
  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields : - Agribusiness / Agriculture / Supply Chain Management / Business Administration / Economics / International Trade / Related fields relevant to agricultural commodities or trade
  • Languages required : English, French 

Hard Skills : 

  • Market research and data analysis skills specific to agricultural commodities (ideally cocoa)
  • Knowledge of local cocoa market structures, pricing mechanisms, and supply chain operations.
  • Understanding of procurement processes, documentation requirements, and compliance standards in agri-trade.
  • Ability to draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and transaction records accurately.
  • Proficiency in Excel, market analysis tools, and reporting for clear data presentation.
  • Familiarity with international trade practices and quality control in cocoa sourcing is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills to establish and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships with suppliers and cooperatives.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to interact effectively with partners and internal teams.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Relationship-building skills to cultivate trust with local market players and stakeholders.

  • Adaptability and cultural awareness for engaging with diverse stakeholders in local markets.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently while aligning with central team directives.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple partners, transactions, and reports simultaneously.
