Civil Engineer – Irrigation & Earthwork - Masindi, Kiryandongo

We are looking for a Civil Engineer – Irrigation & Earthwork.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Irrigation System Design and Implementation

• Plan, design and oversees the construction of efficient irrigation systems tailored to permaculture principles.
• Conduct site surveys and water resource assessments.
• Oversee the installation of irrigation infrastructure (pipes, pumps, sprinklers, drip systems).
• Optimize water usage to ensure sustainable and equitable distribution.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in irrigation systems during operations.

2. Earthworks and Soil Management

• Plan and execute earthwork projects, including land grading, contouring etc.
• Analyse soil structures to improve water retention and reduce erosion.
• Design and construct water storage systems (ponds, tanks, swales).
• Supervise excavation and backfilling activities in alignment with project designs.
• Integrate earthwork structures into overall farm layout for enhanced functionality.

3. Infrastructure Development and Maintenance:

• Design and construct farm-related civil structures like roads, drainage systems, and culverts.
• Ensure all farm infrastructure complies with safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of civil works.
• Oversee construction teams, ensuring quality and timely completion of tasks.
• Prepare cost estimates and ensure optimal use of resources for construction projects.

4. Collaboration and Training

• Collaborate with the team and management for project alignment.
• Provide technical training to local workers on construction and maintenance.
• Liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

5. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

• Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to design specifications and timelines.
• Evaluate the efficiency of irrigation and earthwork systems post-implementation.
• Document all project activities and maintain detailed reports for stakeholders.
• Propose upgrades or modifications based on system performance and farm needs.
• Stay updated on advancements in irrigation and permaculture infrastructure technologies.

6. Sustainability Compliance:

• Integrate eco-friendly and cost-effective engineering solutions for the project.
• Ensure all projects adhere to environmental standards.
• Promote sustainable building practices.
