Position : Lead Consultant (Radiology and Nuclear Medicine) - Abuja
African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has announced the commencement of its African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) project in Abuja, Nigeria. It will provide world-class care to both low and high-income patient groups across the continent. The AMCE in Partnership with King's College Hospital London will be located in Abuja, which is a hub for travel in Nigeria and West Africa, enabling it to attract patients across the region.
The African Medical Centre of Excellence will be implemented in four phases over a six-year period, starting with a 170-bed specialist hospital before expanding to a 500-bed facility. The centre will have the potential to provide services to over 200,000 patients in Nigeria and a further 150,000 patients from neighbouring West African countries within its first five years of operation.
The clinical areas the centre will specialise in are Cardiology, Haematology and Oncology. A range of businesses providing relevant health support will support this facility and provide commercial services to its patients and staff, thus creating a healthcare ecosystem sustainably designed to deliver long-term value to its community and region.
We are looking for a Lead Consultant (Radiology and Nuclear Medicine).
Responsibilities :
Leadership:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team including radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, radiologic technologists, and support staff.
- Provide clinical oversight and guidance, ensuring adherence to best practices in diagnostic imaging and patient care.
- Foster a collaborative environment that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and a focus on patient-centered care.
- To be accountable for the delivery of key performance indicators relating to the radiology and nuclear medicine aspect of the project, whilst striving for continuous improvement.
- To lead the Department by displaying resilience whilst designing and building a safe environment for all organization’s members
Strategic Development
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the radiology and nuclear medicine departments, aligning with the hospital's goals.
- Assess emerging technologies and imaging techniques, making recommendations for investment and integration.
- Collaborate with other departments to expand and enhance imaging services offered by the hospital. Responsible for delivering excellent patient focused facilities, which take into account any staff and any feedback from staff and patients.
Governance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including those from the National postgraduate Medical College of Radiology and Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA).
- Maintain accreditation standards and oversee quality assurance programs, including regular audits and performance evaluations.
- Implement protocols for radiation safety and patient protection, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Ensure correct governances arrangements, which include the management of finance and regulatory activity where appropriate.
- Making sure that all radiology functions comply with the governance standards.
- Ensuring that all radiology and nuclear medicine processes follow the correct guidelines from a governance standpoint.
Required profile for job ad : Lead Consultant (Radiology and Nuclear Medicine) - Abuja
- Medical Doctor (MD) degree or equivalent with board certification in a relevant specialty (radiology, nuclear medicine).
- Current license to practice medicine in Nigeria or eligibility to be licensed.
- Full Registration on the specialist register and eligibility to be registered as a specialist in Radiology or Nuclear Medicine.
- Completion of a Fellowship training in Radiology or Nuclear medicine, with award of the Fellowship of Medical College of Radiology, or equivalent
- Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience in diagnostic medicine, with focus on diagnostic radiology, and nuclear medicine.
- Proven leadership and management experience, including the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards for diagnostic imaging services and Nuclear Medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and continuous learning and development.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a complex project and setting up a radiology department or nuclear medicine department
- Successful large scale experience within the healthcare field
- Experience managing issues and identifying any potential risk to strategy
- Evidence of successfully implementing strategy with allocated budget/resources
- Proven experience of managing and leading a successful team
