Position : Artisan Fitter - Johannesburg

Duties & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
•    Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications•    Engineering equipment is maintained according to agreed standards and schedules•    Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards and schedules•    Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols•    Cost containment, high mean time to failure after repairs•    Effective stakeholder engagement•    Competent, motivated, disciplined and positive team•    Effective self and team supervision in alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives

Desired Experience & Qualification
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • 5 years of mining industry experience (underground and surface)
  • 5 years of trade experience as a Fitter with TMM Experience.
  • Basic knowledge Sandvik LHD, Dump tracks and Drill rigs. [preferred]

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF4) 
  • Section 26 Fitter Trade Certificate / MIETTB (Mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board) 
  • Trade Certificate through a registered body, e.g.:(i) Olifantsfontein, pre 1994 

(ii) ESTC (Engineering Skills Training Centre) James Park (iii)GFA (Goldfields Training Academy) 

  • Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower 
  • Valid First aid Certificate and valid Code EB driver's license
  • Analytical with attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and fault-finding from drawings 
  • Hazard identification, planning and organising skills.
