Position : Supply Chain Manager - Lilongwe

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Supply Chain Manager with over 10 years of progressive experience to oversee and optimize end-to-end supply chain operations. The role is responsible for procurement, logistics, inventory management, supplier performance, and cost optimization while ensuring efficiency, resilience, and alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Lead demand planning, forecasting, and supply planning processes
  • Identify risks and opportunities within the supply chain and implement mitigation strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Lead strategic sourcing, supplier selection, and contract negotiations
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and reliability
  • Monitor supplier performance and enforce service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Ensure ethical sourcing and compliance with procurement policies

Logistics & Distribution

  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, transportation, and distribution networks
  • Optimize delivery schedules, freight costs, and warehouse operations
  • Coordinate with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery

Inventory & Warehouse Management

  • Manage inventory levels to balance availability, cost, and working capital
  • Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste, losses, and stock-outs
  • Oversee warehousing operations, stock audits, and inventory reporting

Cost Control & Performance Management

  • Monitor and control supply chain costs and budgets
  • Analyze KPIs such as lead times, order fulfillment, inventory turnover, and cost savings
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for senior management decision-making

Compliance, Risk & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customs, and trade regulations
  • Implement internal controls to mitigate fraud, losses, and operational risks
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop supply chain and procurement teams
  • Collaborate with finance, sales, production, and operations teams
  • Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead or support ERP and supply chain system implementations
  • Improve processes through automation, data analytics, and best practices

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business, or related field
  • Professional certification (CIPS, CSCP, CPSM, or equivalent) is an added advantage
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in supply chain, procurement, or logistics roles
  • Strong experience in supplier negotiations, inventory management, and logistics
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex operations
