Position : Specialised Drone Pilot - 35 Josiah Chinamano Harare

Position Overview
We are seeking a Specialised Drone Pilot with exceptional technical, operational, and analytical skills. The successful candidate will execute complex aerial missions for inspections, surveys, and rescue operations, ensuring data accuracy, safety, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and document UAV missions safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out manual flights with precision and control in challenging or confined environments.
  • Conduct aerial inspections of mining, industrial, and infrastructure assets.
  • Perform survey and mapping operations using LiDAR, RTK GPS, and photogrammetry tools.
  • Support rescue and emergency response missions, including search and recovery.
  • Process and analyse aerial data to generate actionable insights and detailed reports.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot drone systems and sensors.
  • Collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and rescue teams for mission planning and execution.

Minimum Requirements

  • Valid Remote Pilot Licence (RPL) – ROC/ASL certification is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in industrial inspections, survey mapping, or rescue operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform manual drone flights safely and accurately.
  • Strong data processing and analysis skills using software such as Pix4D, DroneDeploy, or GIS platforms.
  • Familiarity with LiDAR, RTK GPS, and mapping technologies.
  • Excellent situational awareness and adherence to safety and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Surveying, Mining Engineering, or Geospatial qualification is an advantage.
  • Experience working in mining, construction, or emergency services environments.
  • Knowledge of UAV maintenance, troubleshooting, and mission planning software.

Assessment Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a practical flight assessment to demonstrate manual flight control, situational awareness, and data handling capabilities.
