Position : Quality Control Officer - Mukono

We are looking for a Quality Control Officer.
The Quality Control Officer at Kaaro Foods Ltd is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process items, and finished products meet the company’s quality and safety standards. The role involves monitoring production processes, conducting inspections, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring compliance with Ugandan food safety regulations. The officer plays a key role in maintaining product consistency, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Inspection & Monitoring

  • Inspect raw materials upon delivery to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct in-process inspections during production to monitor quality standards.
  • Test finished products for taste, texture, weight, packaging, and labeling compliance.

2. Laboratory Testing

  • Perform laboratory analysis of raw and finished products as required.
  • Record, interpret, and report test results accurately.
  • Identify deviations from quality standards and recommend corrective actions.

3. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparing reports for management and regulatory authorities.

4. Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with production teams to identify quality issues and implement improvements.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of food safety and quality standards.
  • Suggest improvements to processes, equipment, and handling to maintain high product quality.

5. Health, Safety & Hygiene

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Monitor sanitation of production areas and storage facilities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in quality control, preferably in food processing.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan food safety regulations and standards (e.g., UNBS).
  • Attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to use laboratory equipment.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and basic computer skills.
