Position : Project Engineer - Garowe

Role Overview
We are looking for a Project Engineer.
The Project Engineer is responsible for the overall technical coordination, execution oversight, and engineering control of assigned projects. The role leads and manages all Site Engineers across project sites, consolidates technical and progress reporting, and ensures construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The Project Engineer acts as the primary engineering focal point between site execution teams and project management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering Leadership & Site Oversight

  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise all Site Engineers assigned to the project, ensuring consistent engineering control and execution across all work fronts.
  • Provide clear technical direction and guidance to site teams on construction methods, sequencing, and implementation of approved designs.
  • Ensure engineering activities across all disciplines are aligned with project objectives, schedules, and contractual requirements.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for site engineering issues, constructability challenges, and technical clarifications.

Technical Coordination & Design Control

  • Review and interpret approved construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure correct implementation on site.
  • Coordinate with design consultants, engineers, and technical teams to resolve design queries, discrepancies, and site-related technical issues.
  • Ensure all design changes, clarifications, and technical instructions are properly reviewed, approved, documented, and communicated to site teams.
  • Monitor constructability and proactively identify technical risks or conflicts that may impact cost, quality, or schedule.

Construction Monitoring & Progress Control

  • Oversee day-to-day engineering aspects of construction activities to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved methods and sequencing.
  • Monitor construction progress in coordination with Site Engineers and planning teams, identifying delays or deviations and proposing corrective actions.
  • Ensure engineering inputs support timely execution of works in line with project schedules and milestones.
  • Support the Construction Manager with technical assessments related to progress, delays, or productivity issues.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, material standards, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and verification activities with QA/QC teams and consultants.
  • Review and verify technical compliance of works prior to approvals, inspections, or handover stages.
  • Ensure non-conformances are identified, addressed, and closed out in a timely manner.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Consolidate technical, progress, and site reports from all Site Engineers into clear and accurate project-level reports.
  • Prepare and submit regular engineering and progress reports to the Construction Manager.
  • Maintain structured records of technical correspondence, approvals, drawings, RFIs, site instructions, and engineering decisions.
  • Provide accurate technical input for project meetings, coordination sessions, and management reviews.

Coordination with Project Stakeholders

  • Coordinate closely with Construction Managers, Planning Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, QA/QC teams, and procurement teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders as required.
  • Support the Construction Manager in technical evaluations, sequencing decisions, and issue resolution.

Risk Management & Problem Solving

  • Identify engineering, constructability, or execution risks early and propose practical mitigation measures.
  • Provide technical input on value engineering, alternative methods, or sequencing improvements where appropriate.
  • Support resolution of site issues that could impact safety, quality, cost, or schedule.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional engineering certification or registration is an advantage.
  • Minimum 12–15 years of progressive experience in construction and project engineering roles.
  • Proven experience working on large-scale development projects, such as residential developments, mixed-use developments, infrastructure projects, or large commercial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing multiple Site Engineers across active construction sites.
  • Strong background in overseeing engineering execution from early construction stages through completion.
  • Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
