Position : Plant Manager - Kampala

We are looking for a Plant Manager.
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the manufacturing facility to ensure safety, quality, production efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. This role leads cross-functional teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures the plant meets organizational goals and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end plant operations including production, maintenance, quality, safety, and logistics.
  • Develop and execute production plans to meet delivery, cost, and quality targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage supervisors, team leads, and departmental managers.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE, scrap rates, downtime, and throughput.
  • Manage plant budget, including labor, materials, maintenance, and capital expenditures.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, engineering, and quality departments to optimize operations.
  • Resolve operational issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Foster a positive work culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and employee development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7–10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing multi-shift or high-volume production environments.
  • Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and drive measurable results.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO/QMS standards.
  • Background in the specific industry (e.g., automotive, electronics, food manufacturing).

Work Environment

  • Full-time, on-site role requiring regular interaction with production floor personnel.
  • May require occasional weekend or off-shift support based on operational needs.
