Position : Food Safety (HSE) Officer - Ghanzi District

We are looking for a Food Safety (HSE) Officer.
Key Responsibilities
2.1. Regulatory and Policy Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and food safety legislation, regulations and Company standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO standards, client requirements).
  • Ensure all internal work practices align with HSE and Food Safety best practices.
  • Manage and coordinate Department of Labour, environmental, and food safety inspections, including internal and client audits.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health, hygiene, food handling and food storage legal requirements.

2.2. Emergency Preparedness

  • Ensure fire, safety, food contamination and emergency procedures are formulated and implemented.
  • Ensure a site contingency plan—including food safety incident response—is in place.

2.3. Risk Management

  • Conduct workplace and job-specific hazard analysis covering safety, health, environmental and food safety hazards.
  • Develop and implement appropriate risk and food safety control measures (e.g., contamination controls, temperature controls, allergen management).
  • Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of existing control measures for HSE and Food Safety.
  • Plan and conduct internal HSE and Food Safety audits; participate in external audits.
  • Maintain the site risk register, including food safety risks.
  • Identify HSE and food safety training needs and coordinate required training.

2.4. HSE & Food Safety Systems Coordination

  • Coordinate the development, implementation and management of an integrated HSE and Food Safety management system.
  • Monitor refrigeration, food storage, food preparation and serving practices to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Compile an annual coverage plan and conduct regular HSE and Food Safety inspections.

2.5. Incident Investigation

  • Conduct investigations for safety, environmental and food safety incidents to identify root causes and determine corrective actions.
  • Drive continual improvement in HSE and Food Safety performance by monitoring activities and assessing new developments.

2.6. Effective Teamwork and Self‑Management

  • Take ownership and accountability for daily tasks and demonstrate effective planning, prioritising and self‑development.
  • Ensure quality and productivity standards are consistently maintained.
  • Communicate issues, risks or missed deadlines promptly to relevant parties and propose solutions.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, willingness to support others and contribute to team goals.

  • Tertiary qualification in health and safety, environmental practices, food safety, or a related field.
  • Relevant accreditation/certification in safety and/or food safety practices (e.g., HACCP certification).
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in an HSE and/or Food Safety-related role.
