Job Purpose
The Community Development Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and implementation of community development programs aimed at improving the livelihoods, social inclusion, and resilience of target communities. The role involves providing strategic direction, managing project teams, fostering partnerships, and ensuring the effective delivery of community-based initiatives. The position is responsible for aligning program activities with organizational goals and ensuring sustainable community impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in planning and executing community development projects across target regions.
- Conduct community needs assessments and ensure program designs are inclusive, participatory, and aligned with evidence-based practices.
- Oversee project implementation, ensuring timely delivery of activities, quality standards, and achievement of project objectives.
- Manage, mentor, and support project officers and field staff to strengthen capacity and performance.
- Develop strong partnerships with local authorities, NGOs, CBOs, donors, and private sector partners to enhance program impact.
- Lead community mobilization efforts and support the establishment of community governance structures.
- Monitor project progress, evaluate outcomes, and ensure effective documentation and reporting to donors and management.
- Develop work plans, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for program activities.
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies, and national development frameworks.
- Promote innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement in community development practices.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- 5–7 years of experience in community development, project management, or development program leadership.
- Proven experience implementing community-based programs, preferably in rural or underserved communities.
- Strong knowledge of participatory development methodologies, capacity building, and social inclusion approaches.
- Experience in managing budgets, preparing donor reports, and coordinating multi-stakeholder projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Ability to build strong networks and represent the organization in external forums.
- Fluency in English and local languages is an advantage.
