Lead and Coordinate all Mine Planning and Engineering aspect of Lafigue Gold Mine Under limited supervision the Chief Mining Engineer will lead and coordinate all Mine Planning and Engineering aspect of Lafigué Open Pit Mining operation.

Responsabilities

  • Supervision and mentoring of staff responsible for medium and long term mine planning and all technical services related to the mining operation.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of detailed layouts, plans and schedules.
  • Leadership and coordination of the activities and resources to compile accurate mine budgets and cost forecasts.
  • Ensuring that a comprehensive ground control strategy is in place and is implemented for the mine.
  • Assessment evaluation of the feasibility and the potential for commercial benefits of alternatives mine design and schedule
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the mine performance against budget plan LOM Plan.
  •  Ensuring the mining operation delivers ore to the process plant at budgeted tonnes, grade and cost.
  • The Generation of Quarterly Rolling Forecasts, Yearly Budgets and LOM input to maximise NPV including project evaluation
  • Production of Fortnightly production schedules on a rolling weekly basis.
  •  Generation of monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Provision of comprehensive input into all Drill and Blast Engineering aspect with a constant view on improvement in both quality and costs.
  • The development and maintenance of accurate data management for reporting and planning purposes.
  • Generation and revision of current and future pit designs, waste dumps, haul roads and any other mining infrastructure.
  • Engaging and empowerment of Mine Engineering employees to build capacity and align with Endeavour’s HR development strategy
  • Achieve the above objectives with due consideration to safety, the environment, statutory obligations and the efficient management of the company’s assets and human resources

Systems

  • Development and maintenance of accurate and timely data capture, reporting and activity-based procedures.
  • Communication of all plans, schedules and relevant information to all stakeholders
  • Critical review of current practices and systems with a continuous improvement mindset.
  •  

Information

  • Ensure the production of accurate and timely information for the site customers in compliance with instructions/procedures for assigned tasks.
  • Provide scenario analyses and input into current and future mining activities.
  • Provision of training and support to ensure local employees improve their skills accordingly.

Mine Planning and Scheduling

  • Accountable for all aspects of mine design including liaising with the Group Technical Services Department
  • Development of scenarios and cost/benefit analyses for improving mining efficiencies.
  • Responsible for medium term mine planning and scheduling on site using available software such as Vulcan, MineSched and spreadsheets.
  • Ensuring achievable schedules are produced for production, budgeting and forecasting purposes; this includes short (three-month rolling plan); medium (yearly and forecast); and LOM planning and scheduling.
  • Optimal haulage profiles and associated pit and dump designs.
  • Liaising and engaging with external contractors for auditing purposes (e.g. safety and geotechnical).

Drill & Blast

  • Interface with Operations Dept. in the design and execution of blasting practices
  •  Support and provide technical input into Drill to Mill initiative

Geotechnical

  • Accountable for ensuring Geotechnical systems are current and functional with regards to stability monitoring, early warning and compliance to design

Survey

  • Supervision and development of the Survey team.
  • Resource and Organize the Survey department for maximum performance.
  • Provision of tools and equipment and an environment to ensure the success of the Operation within Survey’s sphere of influence.

Reporting

  • Responsible to ensure production and cost data across all the mining activities is captured and reported in a timely manner; this includes daily weekly, monthly and yearly reporting.
  • Ensure all data is checked and validated to ensure its integrity.
  • Responsible for presentation of data for the weekly, monthly and yearly reports.
  • Responsible for preparing data for generation of budgets.
  • Ensure quarterly production schedules and forecasts are produced on a rolling monthly basis to meet production budget.
  • Preparation and/or review of all mining reports.

The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and not    necessarily all inclusive.
 
Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in numerous mining operations, preferably gold.
  • Operational knowledge of Open Pit Mine design, optimisation and scheduling software
  • Demonstrated experience working with, coaching and mentoring employees with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in mine planning and knowledge of open pit mining operations.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and empower team.
  • Must possess strong cultural sensitivity and be able to execute work successfully in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English, (French will be an asset)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency
