Position : Catering Manager – Hospital Canteen - Namibia

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Catering Manager to oversee the daily operations of the hospital canteen. The role is responsible for ensuring safe, nutritious, and high-quality food service for hospital staff, visitors, and approved guests while maintaining exceptional hospitality standards. Previous hospitality experience is preferred, along with a strong understanding of food safety and operational efficiency in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the hospital canteen, ensuring smooth, efficient, and timely food service
  • Supervise catering and food service staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management
  • Ensure full compliance with hospital policies, food safety regulations, HACCP standards, and local health authority requirements
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control at all times
  • Oversee menu planning in collaboration with culinary and dietetic teams, ensuring variety, nutritional balance, and dietary compliance
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, manage suppliers, and control food costs and waste
  • Handle customer feedback, resolve service issues, and promote a positive dining experience
  • Prepare reports related to budgets, staffing, performance, and service quality
  • Support catering for internal hospital meetings, staff events, and special functions as required

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Proven experience in catering management, food service management, or hospitality operations
    • Hospitality experience preferred (hotel, restaurant, or large-scale food service environment)
    • Strong knowledge of food hygiene, food safety, and workplace health and safety standards
    • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment
    • Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required
