Position : Business Development Officer – Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Systems - Lilongwe

Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable Business Development Officer – Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Systems to lead market engagement and client acquisition for our information management solutions focused on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), project tracking, and data systems.
This role is best suited for a professional with a strong understanding of M&E frameworks, data management, and development program operations, who can confidently engage organizations and demonstrate how digital systems improve reporting, compliance, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Acquisition

  • Identify and engage NGOs, INGOs, donor-funded projects, and government programs that require structured M&E and data management systems
  • Lead direct outreach through meetings, walk-ins, referrals, and presentations
  • Build and maintain a database of prospective organizations and decision-makers
  • Manage the sales pipeline from initial engagement to onboarding

Solution Positioning & Demonstrations

  • Present digital M&E and data management solutions in a way that addresses real operational challenges
  • Translate technical system capabilities into practical benefits for project, M&E, and finance teams
  • Conduct tailored demonstrations aligned to donor reporting and compliance requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with M&E Managers, Project Managers, Program Directors, and Finance Managers
  • Participate in sector meetings, workshops, and development forums
  • Support partnerships with consultants, NGOs, and implementing partners

Reporting & Coordination

  • Track leads, meetings, demonstrations, and conversions
  • Prepare regular business development progress reports
  • Work closely with technical teams during client onboarding and pilots

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in M&E, data management, project management, or development programming
  • Strong understanding of indicators, results frameworks, and data collection processes
  • Experience working within NGOs, government programs, or donor-funded environments

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong grasp of M&E concepts and data systems
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to articulate digital solutions in non-technical language
  • Self-driven with strong organizational and follow-up skills
