Position : Accountant - Airport City, Accra

BrownStone Construction Firm Ltd. is seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Accountant to manage the company’s financial records, reporting, compliance, and cost controls across construction projects and corporate operations. This role is critical to ensuring financial discipline, transparency, and profitability as the company scales its real estate and construction portfolio.
The ideal candidate understands construction accounting, can track project-level costs accurately, and supports leadership with timely, reliable financial insights for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts in line with IFRS and Ghanaian accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements, supplier accounts, and client payments.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial records.

Project & Construction Accounting

  • Track project-level budgets, costs, and expenditures across construction sites.
  • Monitor cost overruns, variations, and progress billings.
  • Support preparation and review of Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and project cost reports.
  • Allocate expenses accurately to specific projects and cost centres.

Cash Flow & Budget Management

  • Monitor cash flow, receivables, and payables.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and budget vs. actual reports.
  • Support leadership in managing working capital and payment schedules.

Taxation & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with GRA tax requirements, including:

    • VAT
    • Withholding taxes
    • PAYE
    • Corporate income tax
  • Prepare and file statutory returns accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities when required.

Internal Controls & Audit Support

  • Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Operational & Management Support

  • Support procurement and vendor management with payment processing and cost tracking.
  • Assist leadership with financial analysis, pricing support, and project profitability reviews.
  • Provide financial data for investor reports, funding applications, and management presentations.

Required profile for job ad : Accountant - Airport City, Accra

Qualifications & Skills
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification or part-qualification (ICAG, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience, preferably in construction, real estate, or project-based accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghanaian tax laws and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo, or similar).
  • Strong Excel and financial reporting skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with construction contracts, BoQs, and EPC projects.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and project cost control systems.
  • Experience supporting audits and funding documentation.
